At Betsy’s Raw Food, we know every dog is different. That’s why we’ve created our easy-to-use raw dog food calculator, designed to build a personalised feeding plan for your four-legged friend.
Simply tell us a few details about your dog: their name, weight, activity level and any proteins you’d like to avoid, and we’ll do the rest. Our calculator works out exactly how much food your dog needs and creates a menu that balances over time, tailored to their individual requirements.
Please note: The minimum amount you can order is for 3 weeks as we cannot send less than 6kg of frozen food as it will not stay frozen in transit.
How it works
- Enter your dog’s details: weight, exercise levels, and preferences.
- Choose your plan: order 3, 4, 5, 6 or 8 weeks’ supply of raw meals.
- Get your menu: our system instantly builds a bespoke feeding plan with the right portions.
- Add to basket: your complete order is ready to go in just a few clicks.
Before you press Calculate
Which activity level do I pick?
2% for the lazy and the older, 2.5% for a normal pet dog that walks and plays, 3% for the properly busy, 5% for a working dog. Puppies have their own settings by age, from 8 to 10% at two to four months down to 3 to 4% at eight to twelve months. If in doubt go middle and adjust by eye after a fortnight.
Why three weeks minimum?
We can’t send less than 6kg of frozen food because smaller parcels thaw in transit, and three weeks for most dogs clears that. You can order for up to six weeks at a time; a standard under-counter freezer takes about ten 1kg tubs or twenty 500g tubs.
What does the plan actually do?
It takes your dog’s daily amount, multiplies it over the weeks you chose, leaves out any proteins you ticked, and spreads the total across a mix of recipes so the diet balances over time. You can change the tub counts on the plan page before it goes in the basket.
My dog is new to raw. Should I still order a full plan?
Yes, but make sure Lamb Tripe is in it for the first week or so, then move on to the offal-free recipes before the 80:10:10 ones. The switch-over guide explains the order.
How much raw food does my dog need?
Most raw feeding guidance works from a percentage of body weight per day: around 2% for less active or older dogs, nearer 3% for active dogs and working breeds, and between 5% and 8% for puppies while they’re growing. A 20kg adult dog at 2% is 400g of raw food a day; the same dog working hard at 3% is 600g.
That’s a starting point, not a rule. Feed by eye: you should be able to feel their ribs but not see them, and they should have a waist from above. If they’re gaining, drop the portion a little; if they’re losing, nudge it up. Small changes of 5 to 10%, then give it a couple of weeks before you judge. There’s a longer guide to portions here.
What our customers say
4.8 out of 5 from 52 Google reviewsBest I’ve used in 20 years of raw feeding. They are made well and you can see how good they are. The company is great too, if you have an issue they sort it straight away. Can’t recommend them enough. My three are looking great on it too.
